How Long Does the House Design Process Take?

Early planning
The process moves more efficiently when the property information, room priorities, budget context, and decision-makers are identified early. Missing survey or site information can delay meaningful design decisions.
Concepts and revisions
Initial layouts establish the major relationships. Review time and the number or scale of revisions often have more schedule impact than drafting speed, so consolidated feedback is valuable.
Permit-set coordination
After the design is approved, the drawings are coordinated for the agreed deliverables. Engineering, energy documentation, septic, truss work, or municipal prerequisites may follow separate schedules.
