What to Have Before Contacting a Home Designer
You do not need every answer before reaching out. A few organized inputs make the first conversation more useful and help identify missing information early.
Your project brief
Outline who will use the home, desired rooms, approximate size, must-haves, preferences, and anything that does not work in your current space. Inspiration images are useful when paired with notes about what you like.
Property information
Provide the address, survey or plot plan if available, site photos, and known zoning or septic information. Existing-home projects also benefit from prior drawings and photos of affected areas.
Budget and decision process
A realistic construction range, target schedule, and list of decision-makers help keep early concepts grounded. If a builder is already involved, their input can be incorporated from the start.
